I wore those sandwich boards. It was embarrassing to meet school chums. And apparently (that word) it was wrong because we are NOT 30 years into the new world. But it is very soon, this time for sure.

Apparently the giving of "judgement messages" is not a theoretical scenario
by GTSfromSY ini remember when the (in)famous "bunker videos" were releases there was some non-witness exposure on a few sites and most of them commenting on how scary and very culty it sounded and all the idiotic wt apologist were quick to point out that it was "only theoretical", "it's possible it could happen like that" and other assorted flavors of steer manure.. well apparently not so because i just sat through the upcoming convention videos, and review footage of the last assembly, watch the last two months worth of "meetings" (*vomit*) and studied up on all the recent new wt releases and all the talk being throwing around now is all on some gog of magog this, judgement messages this, judgement messages that, "we're about to get persecuted!!!
; some of us are going to die; the nations are about to turn against us even in developed countries; blah blah blah.
even the recorded baptismal talk i heard from the last assembly had a speaker that was telling the suckers....er...i mean the baptismal candidates to be willing and expect possible death, and to a good number of young preteen people i may add (outrageous!!!).

Is it a Gun Issue or a Mental Illness Issue or Both?
by minimus inwe have had another shooting.
many are blaming trump and the republicans and the nra.. is it because of guns that there are so many massacres or could it be that these killers are mental?.
do you think guns should be removed from our society so that these atrocities never occur again?

I am NRA. Before you demonize it you should look at what it actually does. It promotes safe gun use, training, even the background check was a NRA idea. They do support some politicians, but so do a lot of other lobbies. I have talked to some of the political activists and they want to get ALL guns away from ALL the people, leaving only the government with any power. The Kent State thing tells it; an armed government running rough shod over the rights of people who disagreed with the politicians.
The US is not the only place where shootings take place, and if you look at per capita it is even down the list.
I just saw a meme of two signs; one saying "gun free zone", the other "armed and trained personel on duty". Which place is going to be hit?
Nobody is trying to arm all teachers, but if a few were allowed it would make a would be shooter have to think; metal detectors, police, and such would be nearly impossible to pull off. I know some government buildings have security, but doing that for all the schools is a far greater task.

What is attractive?
by Freedom rocks inhas anyone found that since leaving the borg that their tastes have changed in what they find attractive in the opposite sex?
beards, long hair, tattoo's, etc).
i don't now if it's just my taste changing as i get older or if it's coz beards were frowned upon by the society that i find them attractive now and didn't when i was younger 😊.

long legs, shapely calves, (no cankles) smooth butt, medium small breasts. Long hair. someone else will have to tell me what makes a man good looking. This being said I have seen some pretty women with short hair.

The news had Macy's or some higher end store showing hijabs. I made the mistake of showing wife. Her only comment was it was about time they made some modest clothing. A tall dark gal in a form fitting dress, no matter how long, is SEXY. These things were a far cry from burkhas. Maybe this belongs in the what is attractive thread.

by road to nowhere indon't know if this a belief or scandal.
did you get the guy who had raised his family while serving?
it didn't say how he or his wife became witnesses, but;;;;;; he is a doctor, was invited to be a doc for the wt, sold out his home (at loss ((i bety)), moved, but you can be sure he didn't get a room at bethel.

Then has the gall to knock higher education when he had to have spent 15 to 20 years getting to be a doc
And another song I couln't stand sung.

Just walk away. Don't send a letter, don't go to a kangaroo court meeting.

Thank you, George Couch!
by charonsdog ini just thought i'd share this story from my past.. back in the 80s i remember the big problem seemed to be about music.
(today, it's tight pants, i guess) the organization, society, whatever they were calling themselves, were always going on about the music we listened to.
disco, heavy metal, the whole "backwards masking" thing...couldn't escape hearing or reading about how satan was corrupting us unless we were listening to kingdom melodies or elevator music.. i was assigned to wtf in the late 80s and remember one of the articles stating that "young people know that the rhythm of rock music is the rhythm of sexual intercourse.

How about the folky sounding and rather tame Grateful Dead? Played some for wife, she didn't know who it was and liked it.
Some of the "rock" stuff is great music. Try "like a diamond".

It saddens me to know that marriages break up because of religion and the blame, whose fault it is ?
by smiddy3 ina jehovah`s witness couple who have been married for many years and some with children of various ages and have been serving in their congregation meeting attendance, fs and bible studies with their children for many years .. and then one of them begins to have doubts about what they are being taught and what they actually are supposed to believe now that some changes have been made with nu-lite.. the doubts grow and then the the use of the internet to investigate further some of the claims of the gb/wt religion .. with the wealth of information available on the www it now becomes impossible to continue to be an active member of the jehovah`s witness religion without being an utter hypocrite .
you no longer believe them anymore that they alone are gods chosen people in this day.. however your spouse does not see things the way you do not at all and after many months of arguments bickering threats the ultimatum is something like if you don`t believe what i believe that you have left jehovah we can`t live together anymore ,i want a divorce unless you come to your senses.. who is the one here breaking up the marriage ?.
isn`t it in the majority of cases the jw who ends the marriage ?

Some marriages are not that good to start. Separation is supposed to be the path for "spiritual endangerment". I think that elders who give an approval or turn a blind eye often want into the pants of the wife, even if they cannot find their way clear.
A marriage based only on religion is not usually that good, what is needed is a common background, common goals, and being grown up.

It takes 3 months to build up blood after surgery, more or less. Surgery seldom or never "fixes" things, the hoped for outcome is a less severe malady. I really do wish the writers of this could get some minor surgery, like maybe a prostectomy and have to P in a diaper or down a tube. I fast forwarded a couple times, no way could I stomach a wholehalf hour of that. Anyway, like most of their stuff, the points needed to be made could be done in 5 to 10 minutes with a better understanding of what was needed.
The new service arrangements in small groups makes interaction less, and a lot of the group leaders are clueless. So that is just who you want to check in with.
I once heard an elder say that "so and so" in the hospital should be doing phone work, talking to everyone, because all he was doing was lying in bed. Next they will trot out the 90 year old pioneer story and wonder why someone else who died at 66 isn't still getting in the hours.
